Hyde de Villaine (HdV)
Chardonnay, Hyde Vineyard, Carneros, Napa Valley – 2016

This is very dense and serious with freshness and powerful acidity that gives it intensity and focus. Goes on and on with so much floral and sliced-lime flavor and hints of white flowers, pear blossom and minerals. So beautiful to drink now, but will improve with age.

The 2016 Pinot Noir Ygnacia Hyde Vineyard is a more than worthy follow up to the stunning 2015. Lavender, rose petal, orange peel and mint lift from the glass in a silky, weightless Pinot Noir loaded with personality and sheer class. The 2016 possesses striking inner sweetness and exceptional balance from start to finish. These vines were planted only in 2010 with seven ma

Very dense yet tangy and energetic with beautiful intensity of flavor and brightness, which shows creme caramel. Full-bodied and vivid. Long and layered. Richness with brightness and focus. Drink now, but it’s also one for aging as well.

Chardonnay, Hyde Vineyard, Carneros, Napa Valley – 2015

95 Points

The 2015 Chardonnay Hyde Vineyard is bright, pure and focused, especially within the context of the year. Winemaker Stephane Vivier did a terrific job in capturing a compelling interplay of freshness and textural richness. Lemon peel, white flowers, white orchard fruit and mint give the wine its lifted personality, but there is plenty of palate weight and depth. This is a classy, super-polished Chardonnay from Hyde de Villaine.

A very fresh and vivid pinot with so much raspberry and blue fruit character. Stone and cement undertones. Blood oranges and sea shell, too. Full body, firm and silky tannins and a long, flavorful finish. A structured and flavorful red. Needs two or three years to come together.

Belle Cousine, Hyde Vineyard, Napa Valley – 2014

Vinous
94 Points

The 2014 Belle Cousine is a Merlot/Cabernet Sauvignon blend from Hyde. Dark, pliant and inviting, the 2014 opens with a compelling range of floral and savory aromatics. Dark cherry, plum, lavender, violet and licorice infuse this deep, fleshy wine. The tannins need at least a few years in bottle to soften, but the purity and vibrancy of the fruit is striking. Put simply, the 2014 is absolutely delicious.

Chardonnay, Hyde Vineyard, Carneros, Napa Valley – 2014

The 2014 Chardonnay Hyde Vineyard is dense, powerful and exotic. Candied lemon peel, apricot, butter and honey endow the 2014 with a decidedly opulent, flamboyant character and notable oiliness. The 2014 was done 80% in barrel and 20% in foudre, with about 20-25% new oak. That approach results in a Chardonnay built on structure and intensity. This is an especially pure, almost stark, expression of Hyde.
