“Oak leads in this cabernet, shrouding the fruit in scents of cocoa and some bitter wood spice. Slowly, air transforms that spice into notes of bay leaf and bergamot, while the narrow structure reveals cool-ripened fruit. This is gamey and fresh..."

"...vibrant red cherry and crushed raspberry notes with hints of red roses, underbrush, dusty earth and black pepper. Medium-bodied, soft, youthful and with lovely purity, it gives plenty of red fruit flavor intensity and a well-poised finish.”

"...pronounced black cherry, red plum and black raspberry-scented nose with supporting notes of aniseed, charcoal and violets. Medium to full-bodied...it has black and red fruit layers framed by very fine-grained tannins, finishing long and spicy."

"Soft and robustly concentrated, this showcases its mountain fruit in a powerful way, with interwoven layers of cola spice, tobacco and dark black fruit. The oak adds a reductive character to the dense, full-bodied whole."

“J. Davies Diamond Mountain has a deep garnet-purple color and offers up classic black currant, black plum and mulberry scents with hints of cigar box, yeast extract and bay leaves. Medium to full-bodied with a great core of black berry and earthy layers, the fruit is supported by grainy tannins and just enough freshness, finishing with a pleasant herbal lift.”

“The most expensive wine of the group is the 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon J. Davies Estate Jamie. I suspect this is the proprietor’s selection of the best barrels, and it is a special wine. Juicy, with loads of sucrosity, a dense purple color, and plenty of cassis, blueberry and black berry fruit, the wine is full-bodied, but at the same time, incredibly elegant and pure. Drink it over the next 20-25 years, although I wouldn’t be surprised to see it last longer given its almost impeccable balance.”

“… a sensational nose of rich blackcurrants, spice box, Christmas fruitcake and earth. By far the richest and most complete and multi-dimensional of the wines … This is a beauty with super-smooth tannins, big full-bodied opulence and loads of red and black fruits, flowers and spice…”
