Notes of black raspberries, red currants, scorched earth, and forest floor, as well as some sweet spice, give way to a plump, rounded, beautifully textured Pinot Noir that has solid balanced, tons of fruit, and a great finish. Aged 11 months in 33% new French oak, it’s going to evolve nicely for at least 8-10 years.

The 2016 Chardonnay Russian River Valley opens with scents of beeswax, honey toast and toasted hazelnut with a core of citrus and white tree fruits. It's medium to full-bodied and very rich in the mouth with loads of honeyed fruits, tangy acidity and great texture to carry the long, savory finish.

From 43-year-old vines planted to Old Wente clones, the 2016 Chardonnay Ritchie Vineyard features crushed oyster shell and saline to begin, with Bosc pear, sliced quince and toasted almond notes. Medium to full-bodied, it's minerally in the mouth with a core of fresh fruits, very juicy acidity and a very long, honey-nut finish.

This is one of the best Chardonnays I have tasted all year, and thoroughly recommend you get hold of some. There's not a trace of fat, and yet it's rich and full of flavour, with zinging citrus peel offset by mouthwatering salinity on the finish. The whole thing just holds on and on - it's brilliantly structured and is sure to develop more complexity in bottle...
