  • Vintage Report

    • The 2022 vintage will be one that will leave an indelible mark on the Langhe. The extreme drought that we experienced has no historical precedent. From November 2021 to September 2022, 300 millimeters of water fell in the Barbaresco area and almost 400 in Barolo. The historical average in Piedmont is between 800 and 1200 mm. Winter was very dry, on December 8th there was a small snowfall that was followed by 113 days of complete drought. Consequently, the budding was delayed and started after the 30th of March. April continued to be very dry and finally water came in May which was immediately absorbed by the soil and helped the formation of the bunches. Then we experienced a very hot June and even hotter July. Green harvesting during July was instrumental to reduce the stress and allow for a complete maturation of the grapes. During August we had two rainfalls on the 7th and on the 17th that saved the vintage, refreshing the weather and giving relief to the vines. The first part of September was still characterized by warm weather and then finally starting from the 15th temperatures dropped and diurnal shifts increased. Harvest started on August 19th for the whites and ended on October 9th for Nebbiolo. It was one the most anticipated harvest we have ever experienced. We compare this vintage to 2003, which was initially underestimated but turned out to be an excellent vintage after aging in the bottle.

  • Tasting Notes

    • The nose is vibrant and enduring, unfolding with ripe cherry, strawberry, and raspberry, complemented by sweet spices like juniper and pink pepper, and delicate floral hints of rose. On the palate, it opens with impressive volume, balanced by elegant, silky tannins. Its defining characteristic is a refreshing brightness, culminating in a citrus-kissed finish that invites another sip.
