  • Introduction

    • Our original estate and our family’s North Star is located in the iron-rich, volcanic soils of the Dundee Hills. The Bergström Vineyard is 13 acres of south and southeast-facing vines bathing in the cool northerly sunlight and overlooking the expansive and rich Willamette Valley. Optimum elevation and exposure provide ideal ripening potential for our most powerful, yet elegant expression of Pinot Noir, annually adorned with flowers, fruit, savory herbs and spices and ferrous minerals.

  • Tasting Notes

    • Pale violet with a red ruby hue. Aromatically full of spice, freshly felled cedar trees, iron, violets, and orange bitters. This pristine wine represents the full potential of the Bergström Vineyard. Reminiscent of sitting by a cherrywood fire with a loganberry tart sprinkled with cinnamon and demerara sugar. The flavors dance harmoniously with fresh-cut sage and mint interwoven amongst blue fruits and wood spice. A lasting finish is balanced with bright acidity and tannin integrated from stem and oak. A perfect example of walking the line between ethereal and powerful.

Reviews

  • Pinot Noir, Bergström Vineyard, Dundee Hills — 2021 – Vinous – 96 Points

"The 2021 Pinot Noir The Bergström Vineyard is dark and brooding, enticing with a meaty blend of savory black cherry and cedar shavings complicated by flowery underbrush and a lifting hint of camphor. This is texturally thrilling, with ripe wild berry fruit depths guided by brisk acidity, taking on a saline edge and hints of licorice toward the close. It's potent and long with gritty tannins. A concentration of tart blackberry and spice pinch at the cheeks, yet the mouth is left watering for more as a salty flourish carries on."

  • Pinot Noir, Bergström Vineyard, Dundee Hills — 2021 – Wine Advocate – 94 Points

“Savory aromas of flint, dried herbs, woodsmoke and charcuterie with a core of dried black cherries and cranberries. The palate is somewhat rustic with chalky tannins and loads of savory, woodsmoke character. Finishes with a hint of bitterness.”

  • Pinot Noir, Bergström Vineyard, Dundee Hills — 2021 – Wine & Spirits – 94 Points

“The Bergström family’s first vineyard is now 24 years old, and in the glass you can almost taste the health of the vines—in the fruit’s exuberant expression, its persistent freshness, and the volcanic lift of its texture. Whole-clusters in the fermentation have given the fruit a floral, slightly licorice-scented back note, lending complexity and layering. The texture is tensile and firm, the wine diaphanous in its fruit expression. For tea-smoked duck.”

  • Pinot Noir, Bergström Vineyard, Dundee Hills — 2021 – James Suckling – 94 Points

“Olives, dark cherries, rust, grilled thyme and wild strawberries on the nose. Firm, yet sleek and silky tannins here, with supple texture and delicious earthy minerality to the fresh berry fruit.”
