Bergström Wines
Sigrid Chardonnay, Willamette Valley
Sigrid Chardonnay is an homage to their Swedish grandmother whose spirit, grace, and strength inspired three generations of Bergström children. After harvesting each of their estate vineyards by hand, they ferment the fruit separately in small French oak barrels, where it undergoes full malolactic fermentation and aging sur lie for 18 months. Only then do we select the finest of these barrels for our Sigrid Chardonnay. In a bottle of Sigrid, you will find the layered textures, mineral structure, fresh citrus and stone-fruit flavors and floral aromas we hope will inspire you to continue following the Oregon renaissance of this noble white grape.
Estate-sourced from Bergstrom, Le Pre du Col, and Silice Vineyards in Dundee Hills, Ribbon Ridge, and Chehalem Mountains AVAs. Chardonnay represents about 15% of the totaI Bergstrom estate acreage.

An elegantly floral, aromatic perfume of tropical blossoms, honeysuckle, herbal tea infusion, Meyer lemon, and a distinctly Oregonian note of hazelnuts. This wine has wonderful viscosity with citrus (lemon, grapefruit, mandarin, orange), white tea, and mint flavors, with good concentration and sweetness. Very suave, silky, and weightless on the palate.

"The 2022 Chardonnay Sigrid entices with a savory collage of crushed rocks, flint, oyster shells and green apples lifted by a whiff of mint. It is beautifully balanced, silken yet finessed and refined, with nuances of almond custard and ripe orchard fruit contrasted by mineral-infused acids and citrus tones. Sigrid leaves the palate completely clean, nearly salty in nature and remarkably fresh while finishing long with a cheek-puckering tension."

"The 2022 Chardonnay Sigrid shows a bright yellow color with a green tinge. Sourced 100% from estate fruit from their three oldest vineyards – Silice, Le Pré du Col, and Bergström Vineyard – it represents the best barrel selection from the oldest vines and is named after Josh’s grandmother. Aromas of lime oil, wet stones, and white peach are complemented by a light reduction that never overwhelms the wine. The palate is long, structured, and energetic, staying light on its feet within a full-bodied frame. They lost 50% of their Chardonnay crop to frost in this vintage, so this wine may be tougher to track down, but it’s well worth seeking out."
