  • Vineyard Profile

    • Châteauneuf-du-Pape is characterized by the diversity of its soils, with a mosaic of plots where different varieties grow together on limestone rock, round pebbles on a clay substrate with varying amounts of iron, and fine sedimentary sand.

  • Vintage Report

    • The 2018 vintage was marked by abundant rain that brought welcome relief to the Provençal vegetation that was able to recover after a particularly dry summer in 2017. Combined with high temperatures during the growing season, this humidity resulted in unprecedented levels of mildew in the vines and consequently very low yields.

Fortunately the frequent use of essential oils and plant based tisanes, together with our biodynamic practices and a magnificent autumn, limited the damage and enabled us to bring in superb grapes.

  • Vinification

    • The grapes are hand-picked and sorted in the vineyard. Long, gentle pressing, co-fermentation and maturing in stainless steel vats, small foudres and oak barrels for 6 months.

  • Technical Information

    • Varietal Composition: A blend of the 6 white grape varieties of the appellation
    • Alcohol: 14%
  • Tasting Notes

    • This wine symbolizes our love for white Châteauneuf-du-Pape. With its smooth, fresh texture, its crisp, juicy fruit and its saline finish, it is like a walk in a Provençal garden.

Reviews

  • Domaine de Beaurenard Châteauneuf-du-Pape Blanc — 2018 – Wine Spectator – 92 Points

Fresh, with quinine, lime, peach, honeysuckle and star fruit notes streaming through. Offers a bright, mouthwatering finish. Very fresh now, but will broaden out a little with moderate cellaring. Drink now through 2021. 400 cases made, 75 cases imported.

  • Domaine de Beaurenard Châteauneuf-du-Pape Blanc — 2018 – Jancis Robinson – 16.5 Points

Tasted blind. Banana, apple, lemon juice adding a vein of freshness on the finish. Slight salinity gives moderate complexity on the length.

  • Domaine de Beaurenard Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Rhône — 2018 – Decanter – 92 Points

Full, generous in fruit and body, opulently textured. Satisfying, with understated complexity. Faint nuttiness in the background. It has a little more body and depth than some this year, a very classic expression of white Châteauneuf. Organically grown Grenache Blanc 20%, Picardan 1%, Picpoul Blanc 2%, Bourboulenc 25%, Roussanne 22%, Clairette 30%. It's mostly vinified and aged in stainless steel, with 15% in old barriques and 3% in new ones.

  • Domaine de Beaurenard Châteauneuf-du-Pape Blanc – 2018 – Jeb Dunnuck – 90 Points

The 2018 Châteauneuf Du Pape Blanc is similarly colored compared to the 2017 and has a fresh, clean, nicely balanced profile as well as classy stone fruits, crushed citrus and white flowers. It's medium-bodied, has integrated acidity, and terrific purity, as well as the fresher, more moderately concentrated style of the vintage. As with most of the wines here, it’s a field blend of just about every permitted variety.
