Vintage Report
-
The 2021 vintage is characterized by a very mild winter, leading to early bud bursting, with serious consequences. During the night of April 7-8, a terrible episode of spring frost shook France. The loss of harvest was significant. Fortunately, practices of soft pruning, late pruning and the application of Valerian helped to contain the damage. The summer was hot, without excessive temperature and with cool nights. A few rains led to a very promising maturation of all plots. The harvest took place at the estate from September 7 to October 8, over 26 harvest days. Although nearly 300mm of rain and thunderstorms marked the period, the grapes reached great maturity. Our old vines once again demonstrated their relevance. With tall shoots, presenting smaller and more airy bunches, the grapes were less exposed to humidity and its consequences. This allowed optimal maturity from each parcel and resulted in healthy grapes of great quality, throughout the harvest.

Châteauneuf-du-Pape Cuvée Boisrenard — 2021 – Wine Advocate – 94 Points
“An unusually complete offering given the challenges of the vintage, Beauregard's 2021 Chateauneuf du Pape Boisrenard delivers waves of black raspberries accented by black olives and hints of garrigue. Full-bodied, rich and supple, with a long, velvety finish, this Grenache-dominated (80%) blend has it all. Bravo!”

Châteauneuf-du-Pape Cuvée Boisrenard — 2021 – James Suckling – 94 Points
"A spectacular, focused and structured red from old-vine co-plantings of the 13 varietals accepted in the appellation. The nose shows notes of spices, cherries, dark plums, currants, wild herbs, baking spices, bark and some peppercorns. It’s full-bodied with fine tannins. There is class in this wine, with a delicate, silky texture at the center and a wise structure framing the palate. Freshness kicks in toward the end and lifts the long finish.”

Châteauneuf-du-Pape Cuvée Boisrenard — 2021 – Wine Spectator – 92 Points
"This red's flavors of strappy black cherry, damson plum and fruitcake spices are edged in graphite as violet perfume adds lift, with good energy and subtly chewy tannins. Showing good power and energy, this is built for the long haul. One for the cellar."

Châteauneuf-du-Pape Cuvée Boisrenard — 2021 – Jeb Dunnuck – 94 Points
“One of the deeper hued, richer, more structured and serious wines in the vintage, it has an absolutely gorgeous perfume of blackberries, sappy garrigue, spring flowers, graphite, and crushed stone. Has a great mid-palate, clean, vibrant acidity, ripe tannins, and a great finish.”
