Elena Walch
Ludwig Pinot Nero Alto Adige DOC
The long history of the Pinot Nero in Alto Adige has accompanied the development of the wine region. Elena Walch’s Pinot Nero “Ludwig” was created with the 2001 vintage, from grapes of old vines, some of which were even planted as Pergola. The small production of 10,000 bottles indicates the strict selection of the plots to produce a classic, complex Pinot Nero of the highest quality. The many national and international awards for Pinot Nero “Ludwig”, including the highest award of the 12th and 19th Italian Pinot Nero Competition in 2013 and 2020, confirm the winemaker’s great commitment to this noble grape variety.
Vintage Factsheets
Sourced from carefully selected old-vine vineyards, some of which feature traditional Pergola training systems. These vines are planted in optimal terroirs across Alto Adige’s renowned winegrowing regions, where the region's unique climate and soils come together to produce exceptional quality Pinot Noir. The vineyards are situated on calcareous soils with a mix of clay and sand, benefiting from southeast-facing slopes that capture the ideal balance of sunlight and cool evening temperatures.

"Picture yourself in a cozy room, surrounded by the scent of sandalwood and rosewood. This Pinot Noir is like that, with a medley of dark, macerated berries joining the aromatic party. As you sip, smooth and rounded fruit flavors dance on your tongue, lifted by a lively acidity that keeps things interesting. This pretty, voluminous wine is sure to be the center of attention."
