Cogno
Bordini Barbaresco DOCG
Cogno’s production range is rounded off by this great expression of the Nebbiolo grape. Like the other wines, this Barbaresco is elegant and structured, with a fiercely independent character. This isn’t a Barbaresco that wants to mimic its cousin Barolo, but a wine that demands respect for its full, strong identity, from vineyard to cellar. This is the wager of a Barolo producer going against the stream, grabbing the chance to come to terms with a historical wine, a supreme expression of the Langhe hills.
The vineyard spans 2 hectares and is located in the Neive commune, specifically in the Bordini MGA. The Nebbiolo plot is positioned with a southern exposure, which is ideal for maximum sunlight. Additionally, the vineyard is situated at an elevation of 250 meters above sea level.

The Barbaresco Bordini reveals a broad and multifaceted bouquet in which floral notes of violet and rose blend with sweet spices, pepper, and Mediterranean herbs. It is a full, generous wine that unfolds harmoniously without ever feeling heavy. Savory and mineral sensations accompany the palate, while the tannins—perfectly integrated and round in texture—support the structure with balance and finesse.

"Candied cherries and fresh herbs mix with a cherry-lozenge zing. The palate zips along all bright and lean, where tart red fruits bring a party-like energy. Think of it as your favorite indie band doing an acoustic set—same songs, just more nimble. Drink now–2040"

"The medium red 2022 Barbaresco Bordini is sourced from 30-year-old Lampia vines, and in the cellar, saw 22 days with submerged cap maceration, followed by a little over a year in barrels. The nose opens to notes of very expressive aromas of ripe mixed berries, savory fresh herbs, spiced orange peel, and dried earth. Its spicy and sweetly noted fruit shines on the palate as well, along with chalky tannins and savory, mouthwatering notes of salted citrus on the finish."
