  • Introduction

    • Sourced exclusively from Te Mata Estate’s own vineyards, the Estate Wines represent the best qualities of their variety, vintage and Hawke’s Bay origin.

  • Vineyard Profile

    • The grapes for Estate Sauvignon Blanc 2021 were harvested between February 25 and March 8, 2021 from Te Mata Estate’s own vineyards in the Bridge Pa Triangle and Havelock Hills sub-region of Hawke’s Bay.

Hawke’s Bay’s warm climate and free draining soils produce Sauvignon Blanc with ripe fruit characters, balanced by fresh acidity, without the need for residual sugar.

    • Appellation: Hawke's Bay
  • Vinification

    • With Sauvignon Blanc grapes of such quality, minimal winemaking means the finer aromatics and flavors are preserved. At the winery, the grapes were chilled, gently pressed and the juice cold-settled before fermentation in stainless steel tanks.

  • Technical Information

    • Varietal Composition: 100% Sauvignon Blanc
    • Alcohol: 13.0%
    • TA: 6.7 g/L
    • p H: 3.26
  • Tasting Notes

    • Estate Sauvignon Blanc 2021 is brilliant white gold, and packed with the aromas of tropical fruit, from guava to pineapple, ripe grapefruit, Key lime and passionfruit. Concentrated and long, the palate shows more weight with nectarine, white peach and a fine sea-salt edge that only adds to the wine’s ripe, thirst-quenching character. Quintessentially Hawke’s Bay, Estate Sauvignon Blanc 2021 delivers new dimensions of freshness and appeal.

    • Serving Suggestions: Best served chilled, either as a refreshing pre-dinner glass of wine, or with salads, seafood dishes and lightly spiced Asian foods, fuller flavored seafood and white meat dishes

Reviews

  • Estate Sauvignon Blanc, Hawke’s Bay — 2021 – James Suckling – 93 Points

"A juicy and crisp white with green apple, lemongrass and other fresh herbs. Some dried melon as well. It’s medium to full body with lots of tangy acidity. Phenolic. Dry and flavorful."
