Hyde de Villaine
Chardonnay Hyde Vineyard Carneros Napa Valley
Chardonnay is the flagship wine and is comprised of genetically distinct Hyde selections of Old Wente and Calera, which come from the oldest blocks in the vineyard. The blend is generally 60 percent Old Wente and 40 percent Calera Chardonnay selections. Old Wente is identified by its distinctive aromatic profile and its tendency for millerandage, which provides high acidity. The Calera selection, now known as the Hyde clone, delivers minerality and a unique stone fruit character.
The vineyard is certified Napa Green Land and Fish Friendly Farming and Larry Hyde uses a variety of biodynamic and organic practices in the vineyard; the wines are unfined and unfiltered.

Refinement and purity are the hallmarks of this vintage. Aromas of yellow apple and mango skin are balanced by crisp minerality and notes of smoked almond. The palate showcases fresh, lime-like acidity and linear mouthfeel while being offset by tones of toasted Ezekiel bread and subtle hints of vanilla bean. While being expressive in its youth, we feel that the qualities of this wine are better realized with age.

Vegy nose. Mild and impressive vitality for its age. Really refreshing wine. Lots of texture and still grip. So distinctive!"
