  • Vintage Report

    • 2011 was a very hot, dry year, which made the phenolic phases — from budbreak to ripening — occur 10 days earlier than usual. Rain was concentrated in the month of June and was practically nonexistent for the remainder of the season. Vines were stressed by the heat and lack of rain, especially in the second half of August when temperatures reached their peak. Harvest was anticipated and required careful grape selection.

“This is tight and dense with so much mushroom, cherry and bark aromas and flavors. Full to medium body, firm tannins and a silky-textured finish. Very fine indeed.”

“… rich, powerful and intense … distinctive ample frame and unctuous personality. Ripe red cherry, mint, chalk and dried flowers are some of the notes that open up as the wine gains volume with time in the glass. The 2011 offers notable richness... ”

“‘… Brilliant mid ruby with orange tinges. Nutty peppery cherry nose with hints of oak. Supple fruit with lovely tannic bite and freshness on the finish. A little flirty because of the oak right now, but will improve.”

  • Il Puro, Chianti Classico Gran Selezione – 2011 – 91 points – Wine Spectator

"A fruity style, featuring cherry pie, plum, wild herb and earth flavors. The dense tannins are firm, while the chalky finish is long and mouthwatering."
