Bergström Wines
Le Pré du Col Pinot Noir, Ribbon Ridge
The first Ribbon Ridge AVA estate that we were honored to add to our portfolio. This magnificent 16-acre marine-sedimentary shallow sandy soil terroir is owned by the Hill family and farmed by Bergström Wines in partnership since its inception. Pinot Noir and Chardonnay from this amazing site are known for their depth of spice, rare woods, incense and oceanic salinity aromatics and for their rich textural layers of fruited spice and earthy minerality. These are seriously age-worthy wines.

A magnificent dark ruby color. Soaring from the glass are deep, complex aromas of loamy forest floor, dried mushrooms, cigar box, black tea and a fresh fruit medley of blackberries and blueberries. Joining the mix is a panoply of sweet baking spices. On the palate, there is a wonderful core of sweet fruits, spices and umami-tinged savory flavors. Knitting it all together is a seducingly silky texture and a thrilling natural acidity that ensures the wine finishes juicy and succulent.

"The 2023 Pinot Noir Le Pré du Col Vineyard has a jeweled medium-red hue and a more savory character. It opens with notes of red cherries, cinnamon spice, porcini mushrooms, cherry pit, and dark stones, with ripe tannins and a mossy earth undertone. Despite its savory depth and umami undertones, it remains pure and lifted, with refreshing acidity, a supple, silky texture, and ripe tannins. Medium-bodied and never turning astringent, it finishes long and floral."

"Distinctly savory in the glass, the 2023 Pinot Noir Le Pré du Col wafts up with a whiff of mentholated herbs that lend freshness to nuances of flowery underbrush, rose petals and crushed stone. The palate is soft-textured and round, with bright acidity and depths of crisp red and blue fruits swirling beneath an air of lavender pastille. Crunchy and long, this leaves a tinge of licorice and sour citrus on the long finish."
