  • Introduction

    • The first Ribbon Ridge AVA estate that we were honored to add to our portfolio. This magnificent 16-acre marine-sedimentary shallow sandy soil terroir is owned by the Hill family and farmed by Bergström Wines in partnership since its inception. Pinot Noir and Chardonnay from this amazing site are known for their depth of spice, rare woods, incense and oceanic salinity aromatics and for their rich textural layers of fruited spice and earthy minerality. These are seriously age-worthy wines.

  • Tasting Notes

    • Pale to light red in color with an elegant nose of lemongrass, mint, oregano, subtle perfume, rose water, and cranberries. Fresh and delicate with a sophisticated balance of mossy earth and Rainier cherries. The mid-palate is full of bramble and savory chanterelle. The whole-cluster tannins are structured and while approachable now, they will age gracefully in the bottle.

Reviews

  • Le Pré du Col Pinot Noir, Ribbon Ridge — 2021 – Jeb Dunnuck – 95 Points

"Forward with primary fruit of framboise, the 2021 Pinot Noir Le Pre Du Col Vineyard pours a jeweled ruby hue and is expressive on opening with notes of candied roses, cedar, and forest floor. Full-bodied, it fills the palate with silky fruit, sweet tannins, and a stony finish."

  • Pinot Noir, Le Pré du Col, Ribbon Ridge — 2021 – Vinous – 93+ Points

"The 2021 Pinot Noir Le Pré du Col is spicy and airy with a perfumed blend of dusty dried flowers, ground ginger and wild strawberries. This mixes savory and sweet with a cascade of violets and lavender over a stream of brisk acidity. It casts tangy red fruits across the palate, offset by a tinge of sour citrus. Only lightly tannic yet full of tension, Le Pré du Col finishes long and potent with an air of inner florals and hints of foreign spice. While its structural footprint doesn't have as much impact, the 2021 should mature beautifully on its balance alone."

  • Pinot Noir, Le Pré du Col, Ribbon Ridge — 2021 – Wine Spectator – 94 Points

“Brooding, with an appealing earthy, forest floor accent to the blueberry and dusky spice flavors as this builds tension and density toward medium-grained tannins.

  • Pinot Noir, Le Pré du Col, Ribbon Ridge — 2021 – Wine Advocate – 94 Points

“Has pretty scents of raspberry, cranberry, bergamot and mushroom, revealing more aromatic detail as it spends time in the glass. The light-bodied palate is chalky and refreshing with concentrated fruit and loads of botanical and floral accents on the long, layered finish. I love this fragrant, detailed expression!”
