After spring frost challenges that resulted in significant yield reduction, the 2022 vintage release is a testament to the resilience of the Willamette Valley. A serendipitous course to a triumphant harvest yielded a limited yet precious vintage of intensely colored, aromatic, youthfully enticing Pinot Noirs with structured acidity and minerality, heightened concentration, and coiled complexity that, with time, will unfurl to reveal veiled layers of depth.

Tasting Notes
-
A fresh, vibrant, youthful violet, ruby red cherry color. Aromas are bright and of fresh red and dark red fruits, cherry candy, bonbon Anglaise, salted sweet candies, violets, blueberries, and gorgeous salinity. It dances across the palate in an irresistibly jazzy and tangy way. Beautiful and drinkable now, but also lots of darker notes, intrigue, and structure that begs you to age this wine to see how its peacock’s tail will unfold over the next ten years, or more! With time, this will be an absolute stunner.

Le Pré du Col Pinot Noir, Ribbon Ridge — 2022 – Decanter – 95 Points
"Intense salinity comes from this 2006 planted site in the Ribbon Ride appellation. The aromas of a salty sea breeze are joined by notes of wild green strawberries and freshly chopped spearmint. The palate is bright and beguiling with sappy red fruits playing against a streak of minerality and bright orange zest acidity that shows a lively and almost saline tinge to the finish. The finish lingers long, and there is a note of concentrated blood orange that leaves an exclamation mark at the end. Indeed an age-worthy wine that will only show more depth in years to come."

Le Pré du Col Pinot Noir, Ribbon Ridge — 2022 – Jeb Dunnuck – 97 Points
"It shows off a pristine but more savory profile, with notes of mossy forest floor, preserved red cherries, and crushed flowers. It has a good bit of mineral texture, with slightly broader shoulders but a chiseled feel, and it’s mouthwatering and fresh, with great underlying, fantastic, balanced length."

Le Pré du Col Pinot Noir, Ribbon Ridge — 2022 – Vinous – 94 Points
“Coy in the glass, slowly blossoming with hints of wild strawberry, wilted violets, savory spice and wet stone. It’s lifted and finessed, with saline mineral tones up front that introduce its core of dark wild berry fruit, gaining a pretty inner sweetness over time. The 2022 firms up through the finale, leaving a coating of fine-grained tannins as a pleasantly bitter twang of tart blackberries slowly fades. Patience will be required to tame this savory beast.”

Le Pré du Col Pinot Noir, Ribbon Ridge — 2022 – Wine Spectator -95 Points
"Showing dimension, detail and a luxurious texture, this red features expressive flavors of raspberry and cherry that take on notes of rose petal, orange peel and savory tea as this builds richness on the long finish."
