Vineyard Profile
-
The Szt. Tamás (saint tä-määsh) Vineyard is located next to Royal Tokaji’s Nyulászó Vineyard on a southwest-facing slope overlooking the winery’s cellars. Szt. Tamás’ red volcanic clay soil is high in iron oxide and has the ability to retain moisture well, a characteristic helpful in drought years. Wines produced from grapes grown in the Szt. Tamás Vineyard have a lovely, pure fruitiness, nice acidity and good ageability.

Tasting Notes
-
The 1995 Royal Tokaji Szt. Tamás is a light golden colored wine, with just a whiff of orange peel and a wonderfully “fat” middle palate. It is an enormous wine and potentially one of the best from the 1995 vintage.

Szt. Tamás, 6 Puttonyos, Tokaj – 1995 – 92 points – Wine Spectator
“Amazing. This tastes off-dry, so searing is the acidity of this blazing Tokaji. Combines intense caramel, orange peel, spice and mineral flavors with a gossamer structure and flavors that go on and on. Drink now through 2015.”
