  • Introduction

    • WINERY Hyde de Villaine was co-founded by the Hyde family of Napa Valley and the de Villaine family of Burgundy. Aubert de Villaine, Co-Director of Domaine de la Romanée Conti, married Larry Hyde’s cousin, Pamela, bringing the two families together. Hyde de Villaine wines represent the shared histories and winemaking philosophies of these families and one iconic single vineyard.

WINE Planted exclusively for Hyde de Villaine at an optimal location on Hyde Vineyard, our Ygnacia Pinot Noir is a blend of 6 heritage clones collected by Larry Hyde over the last 40 years of farming. • Vintage Report

    • Historically low rainfall in 2020 and 2021 set the stage for another dry and warm winter. Almost all of the rain arrived in December of 2021 and March 2022. The March showers helped the vines as they awoke from dormancy and started their annual journey. Spring and mid-summer were mild, with the occasion heat wave. In September, temperatures soared into the triple digits for five consecutive days. Harvest was one of the quickest on record, with the red grapes following quickly behind our Chardonnay. The wines of 2022 have a wonderful balance and freshness that is not always achievable in Napa Valley.

  • Vinification

    • Made with minimal whole clusters and new oak, the wine showcases the energy and concentration of the Carneros terroir, with remarkable notes of violet, lavender, hibiscus, and red fruits in the nose, and a long mineral frame on the palate. A blend of 6 heritage clones collected by Larry Hyde over the last 40 years of farming this unique and elegant expression of Pinot Noir is an exquisite example of balance and precision.
