Valter Fissore’s 2016 Barbaresco fires on all cylinders, weaving together flavors of perfectly ripe plum, black cherry and tarragon. It feels bold, taut and chiseled, with polished tannins, carrying the wine to a harmonious, expressive finish.

Named for the cru in the village of Neive where the grapes are grown on 30-year-old vines, this 100% Nebbiolo di Barbaresco fermented in stainless steel with indigenous yeast before it was aged for 15 months in Slavonian oak barrels and aged for six months in bottle. Aromas of stewed tomato, tobacco, and earth lead to flavors of cinnamon, cherry, orange rind, and salted blueberry. It's youthful but so food-friendly. 

Barolo and Barbaresco wines are all about power and elegance. But Barbaresco wines have a little more lift on the palate. This bottle is the definition of that. I mean, pure elegance here! It’s hard to put this into words, and you just have to experience it for yourself, but this wine has soft fruit you just want to chew on, while having amazing acidity and tannin structure that only adds to the beauty of the wine. Aromas of bright cherry fruit and orange peel, with a touch of tea leaf. Once this wine hits your palate you may feel like the only one in the room...

Camphor, dark spice, wild herbs and woodland berry aromas shape the nose. On the focused palate, bright acidity and taut, refined tannins accompany crushed raspberry, juicy Marasca cherry and star anise. Mint and orange zest notes give depth to the finish. Drink 2023–2031.
