  • Introduction

    • Arista Winery was founded by the McWilliams family with a mission to create the most elegant expressions of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. We source grapes from small, responsibly farmed vineyard “gems” and work closely with these growers who share our dedication to sustainability in their vineyards. This combination of minimal intervention and gentle yet meticulous coaxing in the vineyards and cellar have resulted in wines with rich, deep flavors that reflect the distinctive sites from which the grapes are sourced. Produced in small lots of several barrels, the wines are deliciously balanced with fruit, tannins, acidity and oak in harmonious proportion.

Our Russian River Valley Chardonnay is a blend that combines old-vine plantings, ideal growing conditions and unique terroir, producing a wine that demonstrates the full potential of the Russian River Valley.

  • Tasting Notes

    • The 2013 Russian River Valley Chardonnay combines a rich, broad palate of toasted brioche, lemon butter and grilled peach with a balancing structural component of flint and wet rocks. As it opens in the glass, notes of lemon oil and chamomile add a layer of complexity. The wine has great tension, with medium-plus acidity supporting a long finish. Drink 2016 through 2026.

Reviews

  • Chardonnay, Russian River Valley – 2013 – 92 points – Wine Enthusiast

“A lighthearted, refined and distinctive wine made from vineyards including Ritchie and Banfield, this white gets less time in oak than the single-vineyard designates, but sings in waxy apple, lemon, nutmeg and brioche. This is a pretty wine …”

  • Chardonnay, Russian River Valley – 2013 – 93 points – Vinous

“The 2013 Chardonnay (Russian River Valley) is gorgeous. Apricot, orange blossom, mint, honey and wild flowers meld together in the 2013 Chardonnay. Sumptuous, layered and super-expressive, the 2013 is endowed with notable depth and intensity.”

  • Chardonnay, Russian River Valley – 2013 – 94 points – Wine Spectator

“This ultrarich, deep and layered white offers a wealth of fruit and flavor dimensions, extending from the cloak of toasty oak to the core of ripe pear, honeydew, green fig and citrus.”
