  • Introduction

    • Champagne Gosset’s new limited release NV brut, 12 Ans de Cave a minima, embodies the spirit of this oldest wine house in Champagne. Crafted primarily with the opulent 2006 vintage, this wine is an equal blend of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir from crus including Avize, Les Mesnil, Oger, Ambonnay, Aÿ, and Verzy. Bottled in 2007 and disgorged in late 2019, this wine spent over 12 years on the lees in Gosset’s caves and deftly shows the impact of long lees aging on wine without malolactic fermentation. The resulting wine – only 12,000 bottles made – retains its freshness while developing vinosity, complexity and texture.

  • Tasting Notes

    • APPEARANCE

Bright gold color with radiant golden hues.

      NOSE

Aromas of summer orchard fruits such as peach or mirabelle plum, citrus peel combined with notes of licorice mint. Fresh and vivid, it reveals a beautiful maturity which is refined and elegant.

      PALATE

The attack is full-bodied and round. During the tasting notes of blood orange, lemon and ginger appear. A long inviting finish, extended by a fresh and salty close, which is the characteristic style of the House. Its personality is strengthened and intensified once breathing.

      PAIRING

This cuvée will go perfectly with sushi, fish or shellfish. It can also be paired with white meats or cheese such as Chaource or Brillat-Savarin.

Reviews

  • Champagne Gosset 12 Ans de Cave a minima – Brut NV – Wine Spectator – 93 Points

A rich and creamy Champagne, with golden raisin, pastry cream and spun honey flavors layered with citrus peel acidity and a subtle, toasting underpinning. Lightly mouthwatering throughout, with a tang of salinity on the lasting finish.

  • Champagne Gosset 12 Ans de Cave a minima – Brut NV – Burghound – 93 Points

A reserved but elegant nose evidences a touch of maturity while offering up yeasty aromas of green apple and quinine. The equally elegant middle weight flavors are supported by a refined but intense mousse, all wrapped in a sappy, complex and relatively dry finale, indeed it’s drier than the stated dosage would suggest. This lovely effort could easily be enjoyed now or held for a few more years.

  • Champagne Gosset 12 Ans de Cave a minima — NV – Wine Enthusiast – 95 Points

Aged for at least 12 years after bottling, this Champagne is richly textured, showing mature fruitiness, touches of aging from the brioche flavors and an elegant, ripe aftertaste.

  • Champagne Gosset 12 Ans de Cave a minima – Brut NV – Decanter – 94 Points

The deep golden colour promises the richness that nose and palate duly deliver. The first sniff reveals rounded generosity reminiscent of shortbread, further swirling brings yellow apple with overtones of ripe apricot. That apple and apricot combo settles into a mid-palate mellowness, edged and enlivened by smooth bubbles that frame all this richness with their welcome freshness. Indeed, the wine works as an indulgent aperitif but comes into its own with food.”
